National Airway Training Course for Anaesthetic Trainees

NATCAT is the first Australian and New Zealand, major Airway Course designed specifically for Anaesthesia Trainees.

Three successful NATCAT workshops where held in 2009 and 2010. These were held in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, which is part of our commitment to bring this program as geographically close to as many trainees as possible.  The 4th NATCAT workshop will , again be held in Melbourne, on the 6th of November 2010.  We aim to run the 5th NATCAT workshop, in the first half of 2011- exciting location yet to be decided !

NATCAT

  • All day ‘hands-on’ event
  • Working in small groups, addressing all aspects of airway management – from basic to advanced
  • The course aim is to give you a structured approach to Airway Management from the routine to the challenging, with the know-how and technical skills
  • Faculty of 30 Anaesthesia Specialists on each course
  • The faculty will consist of Consultant Anaesthetists from Teaching Departments throughout Australasia and will include the executive of the Airway Management Special Interest Group, Department Directors, Supervisors of Training, and College examiners
  • Faculty members have a proven track record in teaching and have an impressive, practical knowledge of airway management and teaching
  • The facilitators are a committed, dedicated and enthusiastic group of specialists

The Course Tools
  • Course pre-reading
    (around 30 minutes of material).
  • Skill stations.
  • Simulation stations with airway scenarios.
  • A full Fibre-Optic bench-training module.
  • PBLDs.
  • One on one with Airway experts.
  • Full catering provided throughout the day.

Capacity: 80 participants

Note: We aim to rotate the venue for this course through all the Australian States and New Zealand over the next few years.
